Döner is plentiful – Turks open vegan snack bar

Geesthacht. The first fast food restaurant serving exclusively meatless cuisine will open in Geesthacht on Friday. The menu is quite impressive.

Such a snack bar is more expected in the trendy Hamburger Schanzenviertel or the chic Eppendorf. That’s where the target audience is located. Right in the middle of Geesthacht, a new fast food restaurant is opening on Friday. It’s called “Çiğköfte”. The special thing: “Everything is 100 percent vegan,” promises Burak Kesici. He is a shareholder and investor, with Ümit Özsevgec as the managing director.

The snack bar is named after the classic Turkish meatballs Çiğköfte, which are also on the menu. They consist of whole grain bulgur, parsley, garlic, and tomato paste – and a secret spice mix for the distinctive taste. They can be ordered spicy or mild.

Flavor experience through the interplay with pomegranate syrup
The centerpiece of the offer is the Çiğköftem Wrap in all possible sizes and combinations (starting from six euros), also available as a package up to the party platter (70 euros). The interplay with pomegranate syrup is said to make the rolls a wonderful flavor experience. Fresh vegetables and pressed lemon juice round off the wrap.

There are also variations as “sushi” with corresponding sauces, as well as tacos and burritos. Stuffed grape leaves, börek, and falafel balls complement the Mediterranean cuisine. Guests will also find soups, desserts, and beverages.

In 2014, it received an award as the best franchise company
The company Çiğköftem is a franchise chain based in Neuss, which expanded rapidly after its founding in 1993. Initially, only supermarkets were supplied with Ciğköftem. The business flourished, and eventually, a franchise system for fast-food restaurants was established.

Çigköftem now has a network of over 400 stores worldwide, with more than 50 franchise partners listed in Germany, according to company information. The success story even won awards: Çiğköftem received the German Design Council’s prize for the best franchise company in 2014.

Geesthacht becomes the second location in Schleswig-Holstein after the state capital
In Schleswig-Holstein, there is currently only one branch in the state capital, Kiel. And as of Friday, also in Geesthacht. There will be opening offers for getting to know the place. Burak Kesici and Ümit Özsevgec have high expectations for the location. It is centrally located at Geesthachter Straße 7 near the bus stop to Bergedorf.

There are a handful of parking spaces directly in front of the store for self-collectors or guests who want to eat in the snack bar. There are eleven seats. A delivery service is in the planning. Two employees were hired at the start, with Ümit Özsevgec working in the store. Later, it is planned to increase to four employees.

More and more vegans – also in Geesthacht
“In Geesthacht, there are seven Döner grills and four pizza places,” Burak Kesici has found out. But such an offer was simply missing. They have already made themselves known on social networks on the Internet, “The feedback was very positive,” says Burak Kesici. There are now many vegans, even in Geesthacht.”
